Veli is small at 67 villas and closed to under-18s, yet guests can also use everything at Anantara Dhigu next door, which gives nine restaurants and bars across two islands. The transfer is a short speedboat ride rather than a seaplane. Surfers get Tropicsurf coaching on a break in front of Dhoni Bar, and the spa adds hammam and Ayurveda treatments.
The verdict
Who it suits, and who it doesn’t.
The entry Over Water Villas are compact at 66 sqm without a pool; choose an Over Water Pool Villa or the cliff-edge Ocean Pool Villa for a plunge pool. Families with children may dine at Origami, Cumin and Baan Huraa by reservation, so the island is quiet rather than child-free at dinner. Surf season is April to October; November to April is the drier period.
Families with children cannot stay here; Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort across the lagoon is the family option. Couples who want larger villas, each with a pool, and a seaplane-only island should look at Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas.
Getting there
Speedboats run regardless of daylight, so a Gulf flight landing in the evening still reaches Anantara Veli Maldives Resort the same night. 21 km from Velana International Airport; the resort aims to send a boat within two hours of arrival and confirms times the night before. Send flight details at least 72 hours ahead.

The transfer is a 30-minute speedboat, so it does not depend on seaplane daylight hours. The resort aims to have you on a boat within about two hours of landing and confirms timings the night before.
No. Veli accepts guests aged 18 and over only. Anantara Dhigu shares the same lagoon and takes families, and you can still visit each other's restaurants.
Yes. The all-inclusive plan covers breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a drinks package at selected outlets. Speciality restaurants such as Origami, Baan Huraa and Sea Fire Salt work on a dining credit under the All Inclusive Indulgence offer.
The resort does not publish a halal policy. Tell us at booking and we will confirm halal meat and any alcohol-free villa arrangements with the kitchen before you travel.
